The RHS Big Seed Sow

This spring, join community growers across the UK as they come together to take part in the RHS Big Seed Sow.

The RHS Big Seed Sow is a new community growing campaign designed to get schools, groups and individuals sowing and sharing seeds. Part of an exciting year of activity, participants will celebrate the start of the season and forge new connections in their communities.

Whether you want to open your garden gates and host a seed sowing event or surprise your neighbours with a doorstop drop, there are lots of ways to get involved. Be part of something big this spring and sign up at

Don’t worry if you are new to community growing, we’ll be sending you help and support along the way. We’ve got resources on everything, from how to sow your seeds to planning your own event. Sign up to the campaign and you’ll get all the advice you need, as well as exclusive activities and inspirational content, delivered straight to your inbox.

Familiar faces, community champions and RHS experts will also be helping to lead the way, sharing their top tips and hacks from their gardens. You can grow-along with them and the rest of the Big Seed Sow community over on our social media channels using #RHSBigSeedSow

New to growing? No problem! This is a great chance to flex your green fingers and try something new. We can provide all the know-how, all you need to do is reach out to your neighbours or network to bring them along on your journey. Why not host a seed sow or swap at work? It’s a great way to reduce stress and will brighten up any lunch break.

If you’re a seasoned gardener, it’s easy to forget how much knowledge you’ve acquired. Seed sowing may be simple once you know what you’re doing, but your skills are really valuable to budding growers, so why not share your skills and experiences with your community?
